HAYDENSHAPES HOLY GRAIL

The Holy Grail Outline was designed to bring more performance with a better fit in tighter areas of the wave. This is achieved by narrowing the nose width, but extending the rail line length forward of the front foot, giving a longer or greater connection for carving, but adding a curve to ensure it fits into the tighter turns of the wave. A larger surface area in the tail area of the board has also been introduced to increase planning speed in smaller, flatter waves. The key feature of the tail plan shape is the side cut (inverted contour) which introduces an aggressive curve on the rail line of the board that affects surfing when on rail and in late turns. This counteracts the flat rocker profile which is designed to give a very fast and continuous speed profile to the board.

The Holy Grail Rocker was designed to ensure it maintains the speed and familiar feel of the Hypto Krypto by using the same large radius or flat curve (for continuous speed). The increased rail was designed to compensate for the wider block on the tail plan shape. The entry rocker is very similar to maintain the best paddling power, although a 12" curve has been added from the nose to improve the fit in tighter turns of the wave.

To summarize, the Holy Grail is a performance board that is ridden shorter and wider than a traditional performance design, has plenty of volume throughout the board to ensure it can paddle easily, along with plenty of flow when surfing from the front foot. Although it is shorter, wider and carries more volume, the design does not sacrifice any performance or response from the back foot for when aligning those big sections or waves.
